Frequently Asked Questions

  • How many sessions will I need?

This can really vary between individuals, depending on their needs. As rough general guide, between 8-12 sessions is a good starting point. You may feel after just a few sessions you feel ready to continue on your own, or you may prefer long-term support.

We will check in on how you feel you are progressing at regular intervals to ensure you have the right number of sessions.

  • How long does a session last?

The counselling session will last for 50 minutes. This allows for a few minutes at the beginning and end of the session to welcome, get settled, and say goodbye.

  • Is counselling confidential?

For the most part, yes. There are a few ethical and legal exceptions to this however, for example if you were to disclose that someone was at risk of serious harm.

I see a supervisor regularly and discuss my work as a counsellor to ensure I am supporting you as best I can. However I do not disclose your identity, so confidentiality is always maintained.

  • How much does it cost?

Sessions cost £45. A discounted rate of £35 is available for students.

  • What type of payment methods do you accept?

I accept cash or bank transfer.

  • What is your availability?

I am currently available on Thursdays, and have some availability during the evening throughout the week.

  • How often do I see you?

Most people prefer to have one session per week, although this may vary depending your personal needs and wishes.

  • What age groups or types of people do you work with?

I work with a wide range of people, ages 14 and above. For clients below the age of 16, I require parental knowldege and consent.

  • What is the counselling room like?

I work from a dedicated and private counselling space in my home, on a quiet residental cul-de-sac. Please note that the room is upstairs. Street parking is available.
